Panthers DE Julius Peppers Wants OutJulius Peppers is an impending free agent, but it is likely Carolina will slap the franchise tag on the four-time Pro Bowler. The deadline is Thursday Feb. 19 for teams to franchise players. The Panthers now have their hands full however because Pro Bowl LT Jordan Gross is also a free agent. Carolina thought they would be able to sign Gross long-term, but the two sides are yet to reach an agreement. Chances are Carolina would still tag Peppers over Gross! if a deal is unable to be reached. Peppers announced today he would only agree if he were traded to a list of four teams. The Cowboys are said to be on the list with three more teams, two from the NFC. Dallas has no first-round draft pick, so a deal with them would be difficult. Carolina is also weary of trading Peppers within the NFC. Tomorrow Carolina has a huge decision to make. Peppers has made things very difficult on his team of 7 years.
Haynesworth to Test Free Agency

Titans DT Albert Haynesworth announced today ! he would test the waters of free agency. One of the best interior lineman in football would likely attract a ton of attention. The 27-year-old Haynesworth is fresh off another Pro Bowl season. He is big at 6-foot-6, 320-pounds. Haynesworth has 91 tackles and 14.5 sacks in the past two years. Haynesworth could be this years gem, but he has not ruled out returning to Tennessee. My guess is the Titans will give him an offer he cannot refuse, but look for Jacksonville to make a run at Haynesworth.

The Arizona Cardinals franchise tagged OLB Karlos Dansby for the second straight year. Expect the two sides to work out a long-term deal before the end of spring.
Two franchise running backs were this years biggest cap casualties. Jacksonville's Fred Taylor and New Orleans Deuce McAllister were both released and will need new homes. Taylor still is a great compliment to a featured back and should find a new home easily. McAllister could have a tougher time given his injury-prone nature. McAllister could be this year's Shaun Alexander.
The Lions restructured a deal with QB Daunte Culpepper. This gives the Lions a veteran presence and a tutor for when they likely take Matthew Stafford or Mark Sanchez in April's NFL Draft. Detroit also placed their franchise tag on kicker Jason Hanson.
