I may not care for the current commander-in-chief as leader our country; however, I love this shot and being in the right place at the right time, made the night worth it.

It was a very exciting night to be a baseball fan, and also a photographer...

Bill Bavasi on the Unemployment Line...

Since you can't fire the players...

The Seattle Mariners decided to from GM Bill Bavasi this afternoon due to their lack of success in 2008 and having the worst record in baseball. Currently at 24-45, they are worst team in the sport, and after a sweep by the Washington Nationals changes were in order.

Although the Mariners won 88 games in 2007, and acquired Erik Bedard from the Orioles via trade and Carlos Silva, the deals have no translated into additional victories.

Considering that they were expected to contend, the writing was on the wall after two and a half months of ineptitude.

Again, I ask, do you think Ma! riners fans are happy with Jones and Sherrill in an Oriole uniform, along with three of their former prospects in the farm system?

I think not, and from the beginning I knew the Mariners gave way too much for Bedard.

Even the Seattle papers out there at the time said this deal would kill the team (ok, this has not so much done that -- it's the fact their high priced players can't hit, their pitching sucks, as does their 'pen)

Now Bavasi paid the price and Andy MacPhail has come off looking like a genius so far.

Um, John McLaren, you might want to start updating your resume...

The Idiot File: Woman Denies Kids Halloween Candy If They or Mom or Dad Support Obama?

The apocalypse has come.

This woman must really be the wicked witch of the West, the meanest woman I have seen in a long time, or just a plain old bitch.

I've now seen it all.

From Youtube: A suburban Detroit woman has decided to scare up the vote among neighborhood children by just offering treats to John McCain supporters.

Shirley Nagel of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich., handed out candy Friday only to those who shared her support for the Republican presidential candidate and his running mate Sarah Palin. Others were turned away empty-handed.

TV station WJBK says a sign outside Nagel's house warned: "No handouts for Obama supporters, liars, tricksters or kids of supporters."

Nagel calls Democrat Barack Obama "scary." When asked about children who were turned away empty-handed and crying, she said: "Oh well. Everybody has a choice."

Pitching, Pitching, Pitching...

It's the day after Christmas, and not much is going on with the Orioles; however, it looks like the Orioles are going after pitching -- probably closer to the stop-gap/mid-level variety.

According to Peter Schmuck of the Baltimore Sun, the Orioles are after Japanese hurler Kenshin Kawakam -- who is also being targeted by the Red Sox, Braves, Dodgers, Twins, Giants and Brewers.

The State of South Carolina To Charge Michael Phelps For Using Pot? Can We Let This Go?

Look, this is becoming quite ridiculous. It would be one thing if he was out in public doing this, it's quite another if he's indoors.

I guess some over-zealous prosecutor (or, in this case -- sheriff) wants to make a name for himself; however, doesn't one think that Phelps has had enough embarrassment?

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Michael Phelps could face criminal charges as part of the fallout from a photo that surfaced showing the swimmer smoking from a marijuana pipe at a University of South Carolina house party.

A spokesman for Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott, who was known for his tough stance on drugs, said on Tuesday the department was investigating.

Adam Jones & John 'T-Bone" Shelby Take About the State of Baseball in the African-American Community...

As time has gone on, many have commented on the status of the "black player" in baseball and it's been sobering to hear. There have been quite a litany of players who have spoke on the topic including Gary Sheffield, Torii Hunter and most notably C.C. Sabathia who has called the situation, "a crisis".

African-Americans have had a prominent and honorable role in the sport since the early 1900's -- up to and after the introduction of Jackie Robinson into in the Majors in 1947 -- however, it seems that the numbers are shrinking for them, and the sport is dying.

As an African-American myself, I see it not only of the field, but in the stands, in some front offices, and in management. As much as sports is the great eqaualizer in a lot of cases -- it mirrors American life, literally.

Orioles Can't Sweep Nationals (With Photos)

After keeping the prodigous offense of the Washington Nationals to only three runs in two games, the Baltimore Orioles could not contain their opponents as Washington slugger Adam Dunn had a career day with two home runs and six RBIs; therefore, in the end, the Orioles lost to the Nationals in the final of a three game series, 8-5.

Both rookie starting pitchers on the afternoon -- Washington's Shairon Martis and Baltimore's Brad Bergesen -- struggled.

Bergesen went 5 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on eight hits -- meanwhile, he collected his first ever major league hit in the third inning. Shairon Martis allowed five runs on seven hits, walked two and struck out two. Veteran Ron Villone would earn the win as he tossed a scoreless inning, while Chris Ray would take the loss for Baltimore.

It looked like Baltimore was well on their way to sweeping Washington as they took a 2-0 lead in the third inning as Nick Markakis hit a two-run triple, and Aubrey H! uff added another run with a RBI single in the fifth; however, Washington would rally back.

The Youngsters Come Through

I attended last night's game, and when I arrived to the park in the opening inning, things looked bad for Baltimore. They were already down 4-0 to a Tampa team trying to find its way back after an 11-game skid. Jason Berken – who started the game for Baltimore – gave up two singles to start off the game, allowed Ben Zobrist to plate in a run with a double, and then gave up a three-run shot to Pat Burrell.

It looked like all hope would be lost in opening frame; however, the Orioles fought back thanks to a gutsy outing by Jason Berken along with a five-RBI night by Matt Wieters. In the end, Baltimore ended up defeating Tampa, 10-5.

Berken earned his 5th win on the season; meanwhile, Jeff Niemann – a Rookie of the Year candidate – labored, and struggled as he took the loss, lasting only four 4 1/3 innings on the mound. Also, Brian Roberts passed a milestone with Orioles as he hit his 52nd double with the team in a se! ason – breaking his own record of 51.

It looked like certain doom for the Orioles, but perhaps something clicked in Berken, and he ended up going 6 1/3 innings, giving up five runs; however, after the first inning, he'd only give up one run. The only other run Berken gave up was in the third inning as Burrell struck again with an RBI-single.

Baltimore finally got on the board in the third inning to make the score, 5-2, thanks an RBI-double by Brian Roberts and a groundout by Nick Markakis. They got another run in the fourth as Cesar Iztruis had an RBI-single.

Leopold Traded to Flames

According to TSN:
Jordan Leopold traded from Avalanche to Flames for Lawrence Nycholat, Ryan Wilson (prospect) and a 2nd round draft pick (that is a Montreal pick from the Alex Tanguay deal). Leopold is making $1.5m this year.

The deal makes sense to me because Leopold will be a UFA on July 1st, so the Avs get something in return for a guy that they could possibly lose for nothing this summer. He's currently making Leopold had his best NHL years so far when he was in Calgary before. He's the puck moving defenseman that almost every team is trying to get their hands on this time of year.

Saw this posted over at the NYR Blog and figured I'd share it with you

Game Day Notes: Rangers vs Sharks

  • Steve Valiquette, who shut out the Ducks in his season debut last Monday night, will start tonight against the Sharks.

  • No confirmation yet but it's expected that Evegeni Nabokov will be between the pipes for the Sharks

  • According to Larry Brooks:

With tonight's Garden match against San Jose the Rangers' ninth of the year and thus the final game that Michael Del Zotto can play before this season kicks in against his Entry Level contract, The Post has learned that the 19-year-old defenseman will be moving.

No, not back to the OHL — Hello? — but out of the hotel in which he has been staying and into a more permanent place of residence, fo! r Rangers management has given that green light to Del Zotto and to fellow rookies Matt Gilroy and as well as to Brian Boyle.

  • An article about Michael Del Zotto in today's Bergen Record

  • The Rangers top line of Dubinsky, Prospal and Gaborik are tied for the league lead (19 points) for points for a line. Guess who they are tied with? If you answered Joe Thornton, Dany Heatley and Devin Setoguchi then you are correct.

  • Judging by yesterday's practice lines, Sean Avery will start the game on the second line (where he finished Saturday night agai! nst the Leafs) with Drury and Callahan. That means that Chris ! Higgins will be on the third line with Anisimov and Kotalik.

  • As usual Scotty Hockey does an excellent analysis of what to expect out of the Sharks.

Liga Italia 2009/2010 | Juve Rival Berat Inter Musim Ini

Juve vs Inter

Mendes will be staying at Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has dismissed rumours linking the Portugese mifielder with a move away from White Hart Lane.

Mendes has been linked with a move back to former club Porto as part of a swap deal for McCarthy and has also been linked with a number of Premiership clubs.

But Mendes said he does not want to leave Spurs, after just one season with the club. He went on to say: "I am not going to comment on the news, nor am I going to feed the speculation."

"I am happy, despite having treatment on my injury, as I had an excellent year in England and I am not even going to feed any speculation about my future."

Levy reinforced the statement that Mendes would be staying. He said: "Porto nor any other club, English or Portuguese (are in for Mendes).

"Our coach [Martin Jol] does not want to dispense of Pedro [Mendes] and he [Mendes] already knows about that.

"When he finishes his holiday, Pedro wi! ll return to London because we are extremely satisfied with him."

This is great news for Spurs fans as many of them think Mendes is one of our best midfielders.

We all wish him luck in the near future at our club.

Taking The Plunge In The Market

By Eric from a family of Spurs fans since 1907
For THBN

I am hoping that what we are seeing in the transfer market is MJ and DL being careful, not scared. It's a bit like watching someone standing by a river in their swimming trunks. What are they waiting for, get in their! Look loads of other people are swimming in different rivers all over the place, like other managers jumping into the transfer market!

But like many rivers out their they could be very cold, very deep or even have alligators crocodiles etc in, or they may not be able to swim. I guess you all think I'm a fruitcake now, but if Souness and Benitez are the ones jumping into the unknown they could find themselves drowning (in debt) or out in the cold (sacked for poor results) or as is most common devoured by the creatures lurking in the murky depths (the fans getting on their backs for very below average performances after great expectations and spending hard earn! ed money on their season tickets).

MJ and DL pondered and haggled on bringing Scott Parker to WHL in a deal with Chelsea. Maybe they should of agreed a price first then when we reached an agreement over Frank Arnesen we could of deducted his fee from our agreement.
Time will tell if Scott Parker's huge wages will have put Souness too far in the deep end.

We have looked tentatively at Guti, but I think this would be a dip in cold water for us, as in the past we have looked at Mark Van Bommel, Vangoor of Hesselhink, Van der Meyde, Appiah, Mintal, Rosicky, D'allessandro, Diego, Sneidjer, Downing and Jenas to mention but a few.

So is it cold feet, can't swim, worried about the creatures? Or is it good knowledge?

Well if these players aren't good enough then don't look at them. Maybe it's just paper talk.

Now we come to Julio Baptista (the Beast).

Spurs bid £14 ! million so MJ and DL must be pretty keen to dive in head first! with we t suits on to protect them and a harpoon gun to fend off the sharks.
Most of us believe The Beast is the man, and if MJ and DL agree then i'm pretty sure he is THE man.

Sevilla want to offload him, although he has three years left on his deal he can leave on the cheap because he would have been at Sevilla for three years. Baptista wants to stay in Spain for his passport and Spurs want their man.

The solution: Offer Sevilla a figure they couldn't afford to turn down (but less than the £14 Million we have offered) between 5 and 10 Million. But the deal is for next season this way Sevilla get another year out of him plus the money to replace him next year.

We offer the Beast a signing on bonus (this way we can keep his wages similar to Robbo's and Defoe's, so as not to cause unrest) maybe the rest of the £14 Million (but if possible quite a lot less) we were going to pay.

That way ! it costs us no more than we are prepared to pay but it's a hell of a sweetener for both Sevilla and Baptista. Imagine something like a £3 to £5 million signing on fee plus Baptista gets his passport he plays in a team he is settled in leading up to a World Cup, and if he is a massive hit in the World Cup (even a minor hit) his value soars through the roof...... But we've already got him.

MJ and DL will be happy in the knowledge that we have our man, and Spurs fans will be more than happy because Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane and Freddie Kanoute will feel not just a kick up the backside but a forceful wallop making the latter possibly concentrate a little more and maybe RUN for 90 minutes instead of standing with hands on hips like a little tea pot when he loses the ball or someone passes it 3 yards away from him.

The other plus point is that Mido is only on loan till the end of the coming season, so we have his replacement sorted out OR it means we might! keep him at a better lower price because we aren't desperate ! to keep him, but he is desperate to stay because he sees our ambition.

The other thing in Spurs favour is it sends out a Big signal that Spurs are ambitious and moving forward, plus a big name signs for Spurs (remember Blackburn trying to buy Lineker etc, once Kenny Dalglish went as manager the floodgates opened).

I think this signing could open the floodgates for big names thinking 'yes Spurs are a club going places'. Oh and it would also be a really big one over the neighbours!

We at Spurs already know we are going places, Cerny is the 4th best keeper in the Premiership behind Robo, Chech and Given. We have 3 great young centre backs (all better than Judas was at the same age). Stephen Kelly will soon replace Stevie Carr in the Republic team. We have two fantastic young wide men in Routledge and Lennon. Carrick is probably going to the World Cup. Defoe is a definite. Reto Zeigler, Phil Ifil, Dean Marney, Emil Halfredsson, Mounir el Hamdaoui and Lee! Barnard along with Dawson and Huddlestone could have a similar impact as Man U had with Becks, Scholes, Butt, etc. But they had Eric Cantona.

I think Baptista could be our Cantona, big strong fears no-one his style of play will suit the Premiership.

We could loan out a few of Dean Marney, Phil Ifil, Lee Barnard, Marton Fullop, Rodrigo Defendi, Mark Yeates and Arron Lennon. This will give them valuable first team experience for the following season or improve the sale value of them if we find we don't need them.

We could offload Davenport (£2 million), Gardner (£1.5 million), Bunjevcevic (£500,000 or free), Paramot (£2 million), plus two out of Mendes, Brown or Davis. I am sure we could get something like £6 million for the pair. That's £12 million.

We sold Simon Davies for £3.5 million and Atouba for approx £1.5 million and we are supposed to have received something like £8 million for losing Frank Arnesen and it was reported we ! had about £12 million in the transfer kitty. My calculations m! ake that something in the region of £37 Million.

We need a player in the mould of Lampard, Gerrard, Platt, Bryan Robson or Zidanne. All the successful clubs have had one (all the usual clichés); a box-to-box midfielder with a good engine, that contributes with a good goal tally, chases back, is a talisman, and a leader.

At the moment we have 25 players aged 26 or under, in a few years with a bit of experience and maturity add this type of player along with Baptista and I think we could, NO, would most definitely turn us into a regular Champions League team. We will be a force to be reckoned with!

Spurs 0-0 Sunderland - Half-time Update

All I can say is Sunderland have been the better side. They've had the best chance; a Malbranque shot off the post from around 20 yards that looked to have beat Gomes.

We've looked like a shade of the side that thrashed Roma.

A lot of us here believe that the Berbatov saga is taking a toll on the players.

The entire side have lacked any cohesion and spirit. Juande will have his work cut out during his half-time team talk.

A lot needs to be put right if we are to win this game.

Right then, I'm off for a cuppa.

Which 3 players will sign?

So then, the end of season rumpus is once again on us and it looks as though our manager has started the merry go round all on his own.

He's said that he'll need approximately £30 million to spend on the 3 players he's identified to really push on our squad. But he'll also have to sell around 4 players.

Let's begin with the players that will be leaving. We believe that Darren Bent & Tom Huddlestone will be sold to Villa in a deal that will bring Gareth Barry to Spurs. But of course, this relies on whether Barry want to move to us in the first instance.

David Bentley will also be moved on, but I can't see which side in the Premier League will take him on?

We can see Alan Hutton being the forth player moved on by Harry. Rangers are making all the right noises in an attempt to get him back and now that they've won the league, the transfer fee shouldn't be to much of a problem, although forget us making a profit on him, or even reco! uping what we shelled out for him.

When it comes to the players Harry wants in, expect him to bust a gut in getting Glen Johnson & Peter Crouch.

If Hutton & Bent do depart, the above two are exactly what Harry will want.

If the Barry deal doesn't come off, and to be honest, we can't see it happening, then expect us to go for Muntari.

Yes we've all read that he's not interested in leaving Inter, but we also remember reading in July 2008 that a certain Roman Pavlyuchenko wanted to sign for a Champions League side only and wasn't at all interested in Tottenham Hotspur.

To sum up, we believe that Glen Johnson, Peter Crouch & Sulley Muntari or Gareth Barry are the players Harry Redknapp has in mind.

With Modric playing well on the left, and with Gareth Bale as another left wing option, we can't see Harry trying to fill in that spot.

Galliani Lempar Handuk : Musim Depan Milan Cuma Target Tiga Besar

Dua Gol Milito Sungkurkan Milan

BOSTON — Dua gol striker Inter Milan, Diego Milito, menampar AC Milan pada turnamen World Football Challenge, Minggu (26/7).
Namun, bola melesat keluar setelah membentur pagar betis.
Skor 2-0 bertahan hingga peluit panjang berbunyi.

Susunan pemain:

Nesta Puji Thiago Silva

MILAN - Bek AC Milan Alessandro Nesta memuji duet barunya Thiago Silva. Menurutnya, kehadiran Thiago menjadikan lini belakang Milan kembali solid.
Menurutnya, Thiago menjadikan skuad Milan kembali utuh. "Pengertian di antara kami makin meningka! t. Ia menjadikan Milan makin sempurna," jelasnya. Meski sempat absen selama satu musim, namun Nesta mampu menunjukkan permainan terbaik selama pra-musim.
Meski demikian, bek berusia 33 ini mengaku cepat mengalami dehidrasi selama mengikuti tur pra-musim di Amerika Serikat.
Tur ke AS benar-benar melelahkan, terutama bagi saya. Sejak kembali bermain, situasinya makin kompleks.

Leonardo: Milan Kalah Gara-gara Gattuso

Milan, Kandidat Final Liga Champions 2014

Chelsea duo salute spirit

Cole opened the scoring in Sunday's London derby before further goals from Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba clinched the three points.

The Blues have now won their opening six Premier League games of the season and Cole is confident they can claim their first Premier League title since he joined the club in 2006.

"This is the best squad, team and spirit since I've been here," the left-back told Sky Sports.

"John Terry won the title here so it's probably not as good as that year but we all stick together and fight. Hopefully that can help us win the title."

Cole's goal came from a diving header and he was delighted to get on the scoresheet against fierce foes Tottenham.

"In a Chelsea shirt a header is very rare," he added. "I've only scored three in my career. This was against our rivals so I'm delighted."

Determination
Skipper Terry echoed the sentiments of his team-mate by praising the battling qualiti! es of everyone in the side.

"The determination of the whole team won it for us," he said. "Our fight for each other. Look at the tackle by Michael Essien when he chased Aaron Lennon."

Spurs thought they should have had a penalty when Ricardo Carvalho challenged Robbie Keane, while Chelsea felt Michael Ballack may have earned a spot-kick.

"Maybe it was one on one," Terry added. "Bally's was definitely a penalty. I haven't seen Robbie's."

Etoo Nikmati Kemenangan Perdana di Inter

Samuel Eto'o menikmati kemenangan pertama bersama klub barunya Inter Milan setelah Inter berhasil mengalahkan klub asal Prancis AS Monaco 1-0 pada pertandingan persahabatan.

"Secar! a pribad i, saya merasa kelelahan. Saya baru berlatih 3 kali bersama Inter.

SAN SIRO IN FESTA PER DINHO

Tutto è cominciato schitarrando i Queen di 'We will rock you'.

Bentornata, Juve.

UDINESE, A DORTMUND NIENTE PAURA

POKER LIVERPOOL

Col cuore in gola...
